Moving in Winter

This year has been exciting and much of it has been revolving around the countries policies.  We have seen states shutdown and take rights away from people without legal justification and no one has been punished for the lack of unconstitutional laws.  This has been crazy and with it the housing market has somehow taken off.  The federal reserve has lowered interest rates so low that anyone can get a home for the lowest percentage of interest of all time. That is the wild world we are living in and it has caused a ton of people to decide to move this year.  People are buying homes faster than ever because they are able to do it and this has led to many people moving at times that are more than unusual.  Moving in the winter is not something that is done on a big scale, but this year the housing market boom did not stop in teh summer or fall but carried on to the snowy winter.  so I wanted to go over a few tips during this time to maybe help out the people moving and to keep them from having a lot of trouble this year.

This time of year can be complicated and nothing can be worse than having a lot of your valuable goods be destroyed.  Moving causes lots of damage to items and somethings that end up causing it more than others are cheap moving boxes.  If you are using old and used cardboard boxes then you are asking to have your items destroyed.  I don't have to mention ice, snow, and wet conditions are really bad to walk or move items in.  But if you are using cheap moving boxes that are flimsy due to the age and weight being put in them over and over again you are asking for people to drop them.  They flex under weight more than new packages and clearly, I have seen tons of people drop them due to this issue.  What happens is they lose 100 dollars here and 400 in dishes there and before you know it lots of damage has been done and the person who had the box who flexed sometimes gets injured as well.

This means that you need to get some really nice cardboard boxes meant to do the job.  I found a few online companies that specialize in packaging and they have full kits that are around 20 to 25 dollars that solve this whole issue.  For a small amount of the cost of damage, you get thick strong cardboard boxes that also come with tape and markers.  That is the answer to many people's problems in winter and it also helps to protect against water or snow if they get dropped. Or just moving them in and out of the snow and sleet the new boxes allow you to keep your items safer.

It is also important to get vehicles that are covered during this time.  Normally an open-walled trailer is the easiest thing to use, but during winter it is worth renting a covered moving truck for a 100 dollars or so.  Again this blocks against weather damage and it also can cut down on trips which is more dangerous to do in winter. So move safely and have fun saving money.
