Cleaning out the Garage

I never imagined that moving could be such a hassle.  This year I moved from a lifestyle of living in apartments to living in a house with a garage.  It was an amazing idea that I would have extra space to work in on a daily basis.  The space would be used for cars and also have the ability to be a workshop for us.   This is really important since we purchased a home that was in need of renovations.  We had lots of work to do and hours of wood working and painting to accomplish.  The goal was to use the garage for lots of this especially when the weather turned cold in the late fall and winter.

The idea was going to be great.  We had lots of space and we were excited to move in and utilize this extra space we have never had.  So the move in began and we spend a few days and many truck loads hauling our possessions to our new home.  We had used lots of cheap moving boxes to get us through the long process.  Luckily we had a few family members willing to help us and it was a pretty easy move.  It took a few days and we were left with a home that seemed filled to the gills with cheap moving boxes.  It was unfortunate that they were falling apart and things were getting broken every time we moved them from room to room.

After the move we went through and started to sort out all the boxes and items into their place.  With time and effort the home actually seemed to be getting bigger because all the items were incorrect places and the boxes started to dwindle. Unfortunately, they ended up getting thrown in the garage when we were done.  They kept piling up and getting stacked in strange ways and soon the garage was packed.

We found we needed a place to work and we were forced to work outside or on our driveway for many weeks.  The weather did indeed start to turn cold and we had to break down and start cleaning out the garage.  This got difficult because the first cold day went from 70 degrees to actual snow and freezing temperatures. It sure is hard to clean when it feels like the wintery abis or that the arctic just moved in. But we did it and accomplished our goal. So work hard and stay more organized then we were. Don’t let things stack up.
